We inspire a love for robotics through hands-on workshops, expert talks, live demos, and competitions—connecting enthusiasts and driving innovation in the field.
Following International Women's Day, the ARM Society, in collaboration with IEEE, the Drama Club, and other clubs of GEC, organised a heartfelt donation drive for Bethesda Children Home in Colva, Margao. This home, dedicated to the development of young girls aged 8 to 20, became the focal point of our efforts. Apart from the monetary donations, ARM council members demonstrated various robotic projects and entertained the children through various robotic games.
The ARM Society, in collaboration with the Department of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering and IEEE, hosted an awe-inspiring workshop on 3D printing and modelling. This event offered students hands-on experience with the open-source software FreeCAD and provided them the opportunity to transform their innovative designs into tangible models using 3D printers.
The ARM Society worked with students of GEC who prepared rigorously for the prestigious IIT e-Yantra competition, one of India's largest robotics contests initiated by IIT Bombay's Department of Computer Science and Engineering. With invaluable guidance from Professor Milind Fernandes and dedicated mentorship from student leaders Mr. Dakshat Patil and Mr. Shubham Gaonkar, our participants were well-prepared to tackle a variety of engineering challenges.
The ARM Society organised a thrilling wall maze solving competition that tested the ingenuity and speed of its participants. Teams from outside the college participated and learnt a lot about maze solving and its nuances. Team ULTROX emerged victorious, securing the first place with the fastest maze-solving time, while Team ELECTRIFIED SKULLS claimed the second spot.
In November, the ARM Society hosted a remarkable two-day workshop specially designed for beginner robotics enthusiasts for FE students to ease them into the world of robotics. Participants were introduced to the fundamental principles of robotics and given hands-on experience to apply their newfound knowledge.
The ARM Club of GEC recently participated in the TGIRF event organised by FIRST, a prestigious robotics competition where students below 12th grade from across the country, along with a few international teams from Kazakhstan and Sri Lanka, showcased their robots. Each team presented innovative solutions and unique mechanisms to accomplish the same tasks as part of a game, in a tournament-style competition.
The ARM Club of GEC played a significant role in the recent Tech Summit organised by the Vibrant Goa Foundation, where companies and startups from across India gathered to showcase their products and services while networking with industry professionals. The summit featured a rich, diverse panel of tech experts and highly accomplished resource persons.
The ARM Society held a workshop focused on the Internet of Things (IoT) and integrated circuits, specifically designed for 2nd and 3rd-year students. This workshop provided a comprehensive introduction to IoT and the use of the ESP32 microcontroller for various applications. Participants ended up building their own custom cased Weather Clock and Soil Moisture sensor kit.
